Dr. Jourdain Artz
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon
Dr. Jourdain Artz is a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon who approaches plastic surgery as both an art and a responsibility. Every patient is different, and he spends a significant amount of time understanding not only what they want to change, but why they want to change it. His goal is never to make someone look like somebody else — it’s to help them look like the best, most refreshed, confident version of themselves while still looking natural and recognizable.
Dr. Artz believes the patient experience matters just as much as the surgical result. Communication, trust, honesty, and making patients feel comfortable throughout the entire process are incredibly important to him. His philosophy is to preserve and enhance rather than radically change — focusing on restoring structure, contour, and definition while maintaining natural movement and expression.
I believe growth, confidence, and mastery are built through discipline, resilience, and refusing to quit when things get difficult.

Why did you decide to pursue plastic surgery?Plastic surgery combines everything I love: anatomy, creativity, technical precision, and the ability to make a meaningful impact on someone’s confidence and quality of life. I was drawn to the fact that no two surgeries are ever exactly the same, and that plastic surgery requires both surgical skill and artistic vision. I also love that it allows me to build long-term relationships with patients and help them feel more confident in their own skin.

Why did you choose Defyne?I chose Defyne because its philosophy closely aligned with my own, offering high-level aesthetic surgery while prioritizing patient experience, innovation, and natural results. I wanted to be part of a team that values excellence, growth, and individualized care rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

What sets your approach apart?I don't believe every patient needs the most aggressive surgery possible to achieve a beautiful result. I often start with less invasive options when appropriate and tailor treatment plans to where patients are in their aging journey. Subtle details matter. In facial surgery, especially, small refinements in the neck, jawline, or facial balance can completely change how youthful and refreshed someone appears without making them look "operated on."

How do you achieve natural-looking results?Natural results come from respecting anatomy rather than fighting against it. I personalize every surgical plan based on the patient’s unique facial structure, body proportions, skin quality, and long-term goals. I avoid the “overdone” or trend-driven look and instead focus on balance, harmony, and timeless results. The best plastic surgery should make people think you look healthier, younger, or more confident, not like you “had work done.”

What is your approach to patient care?Trust and communication. Undergoing surgery is a very personal decision, and patients deserve to feel heard, educated, and cared for every step of the way. I want patients to feel comfortable asking questions and confident that they have a surgeon who genuinely cares about their outcome. I also prioritize creating a calm, supportive environment where patients never feel rushed or pressured.

What principles guide your surgical decision-making?Safety always comes first. Beyond that, I focus on creating results that are natural, long-lasting, and appropriate for the individual patient. I believe in being honest with patients, even when that means telling them less is more or recommending against a procedure that may not benefit them. I also value precision, meticulous technique, and continuous improvement. Plastic surgery is constantly evolving, and I’m always studying newer techniques and technologies that can improve outcomes, recovery, and patient experience.

What do you enjoy outside of work?I spend a lot of time staying active and outdoors. I enjoy strength training, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, MMA, golfing, free diving, spearfishing, and pretty much anything adventurous or physically challenging. I also enjoy traveling with my wife, who is a cardiologist, and we both share a passion for fitness, health, and performance optimization.
