What is Rib Remodeling?
Discover precision contouring for the silhouette you’ve always wanted. Defyne’s groundbreaking, innovative approach to rib remodeling emphasizes a smooth recovery, enhanced safety, and stunning results that exceed what is possible with liposuction alone.
Rib remodeling surgery involves reshaping the 11th and 12th ribs to refine and narrow the waistline. Traditionally, this approach involves a recovery period of around three months. However, by integrating LIPUS, we help our patients heal in 6-8 weeks, which cuts recovery time by up to 50%. Shown to accelerate bone repair and supported by decades of orthopedic research (aiding in fracture care and limb lengthening), LIPUS promotes cellular recovery without additional incisions, hardware, or implants.
Our approach was featured in USA Today coverage on rib remodeling, highlighting how this procedure is evolving beyond trend-driven interest into a more structured, evidence-based treatment.

What to Expect
Preparation may be required before any cosmetic procedure to ensure proper outcomes. Your plastic surgeon will provide you with detailed preparation instructions. These instructions may include alternating certain medications, pausing smoking, and more. Preparation can be further discussed during your consultation appointment with one of our board-certified plastic surgeons.
The Rib Remodeling procedure is performed by one of our board-certified plastic surgeons in the comfort of our specialized procedure rooms.
Your surgeon will talk with you prior to the procedure, review the surgical plan, and answer any last-minute questions.
During the procedure, your comfort and safety is our greatest priority. General anesthesia ensures a pain-free experience while our team seamlessly creates top-tier results.
To help achieve the ideal silhouette, ultrasound guidance is used to locate the ribs that will be contoured (ribs 11 and 12). Nerve blocks are placed over the ribs to provide long-term relief even after surgery. We utilize a Piezo ultrasonic device to perform a microfracture in the rib, and then proceed to recontour the rib to a more aesthetically pleasing position.
In addition to the rib remodeling procedure, liposuction may be used to further refine the contours for optimal results, and skin tightening (via a procedure called Renuvion) may also be employed.
The rib remodeling procedure can also be combined with other procedures, such as breast augmentation or a tummy tuck, depending on your individual goals.
The rib remodeling procedure is performed through a needle-sized incision, resulting in inconspicuous scars. Downtime is approximately 1 week, during which you can expect to feel sore and will need to modify your movement, but you can return to your daily activities. After the first week, you can return to your normal routine. Recovery time with LIPUS is significantly improved, with a total typical recovery time of approximately 6 weeks. During this time, a corset is needed for support. Depending on individual response to healing, patients will wear the corset for a total of 6-8 weeks.
