What is Ellacor?
Ellacor is a type of derma-coring procedure. It is a cutting-edge, minimally invasive skin rejuvenation treatment designed to address moderate to severe wrinkles and skin laxity, particularly around the mid and lower face. Unlike traditional laser or radiofrequency treatments, Ellacor uses micro-coring technology, which involves the precise removal of tiny cores of skin without the need for surgery. This technique not only removes skin without producing any scars but it also stimulates the body’s natural healing process, leading to a smoother, more youthful appearance with minimal downtime.
There are two main types of Derma-Coring:
- Micro-Coring (Ellacor): Uses hollow needles to mechanically remove skin without causing thermal damage to surrounding tissue. This innovative technique improves skin laxity in areas such as the face, neck, jawline, and chin and requires minimal downtime—all without traditional surgery.

What to Expect
Your journey with Ellacor begins with a consultation with one of our board-certified plastic surgeons. During this appointment, your surgeon will review your medical history, discuss your unique aesthetic goals, and determine whether Derma-Coring is a safe and appropriate treatment for you. If approved, you’ll receive pre-procedure instructions, such as avoiding blood-thinning medications and supplements for at least two weeks and limiting sun exposure or tanning.
Before treatment, a numbing cream and local anesthetic are applied to ensure your comfort. Your provider then uses a coring device with small, hollow needles to create a grid of microcores in the skin. These microcores stimulate collagen and elastin production, improving skin texture, firmness, and overall rejuvenation. The procedure typically takes less than 30 minutes and carries minimal risk of thermal injury or scarring.
Recovery from Derma-Coring is minimal. Patients may experience mild swelling, redness, tenderness, or discomfort, which usually resolves within a week. Initial improvements can appear within three weeks, with continued enhancement over the following months as collagen production progresses.
