Recovery from a brow lift is generally well tolerated, with most patients experiencing a downtime of about 5 to 10 days, depending on the technique used. The procedure is typically performed under local anesthesia with twilight sedation or general anesthesia. Swelling and bruising tend to peak within the first 48 to 72 hours, but these effects can be managed effectively with cold compresses and keeping the head elevated. Most individuals feel comfortable returning to work within 7 to 10 days. While initial results become visible within 4 to 6 weeks, subtle improvements continue to develop over the following months. Brow lift results are long-lasting, often maintaining a more youthful, refreshed appearance for 7 to 10 years or longer. Techniques
Endoscopic Brow Lift: Minimally Invasive
Ideal for patients with mild to moderate brow drooping, the endoscopic brow lift uses 4–5 small incisions hidden behind the hairline. This minimally invasive brow lift involves a tiny camera (endoscope) and specialized instruments to lift the brow and release muscle tension, all while preserving the hairline and minimizing visible scarring.
Temporal (Lateral) Brow Lift: Subtle and Focused
With short incisions placed in the temples behind the hairline, the temporal brow lift is a low-invasiveness option ideal for subtly elevating the outer brow and smoothing crow’s feet. Often performed alongside eyelid surgery, this technique provides a naturally refreshed appearance with minimal visible scarring.
Pretrichial (Hairline) Brow Lift: Ideal for High Foreheads
This moderately invasive technique uses an incision along the frontal hairline, making it especially suitable for patients with a tall forehead who want to lift the brows without increasing forehead height. The incision is well hidden at the hairline and can actually help shorten the forehead while providing a noticeable lift to the brow area.
Direct Brow Lift: Precise Control or Asymmetry Correction
The direct brow lift involves an incision just above the eyebrows, typically hidden within natural creases. This moderate to high invasiveness technique offers precise control, making it ideal for older patients, men with prominent brows, or those needing revision or correction of brow asymmetry. While it allows for exact brow shaping, it may leave a visible scar in some patients, depending on skin type and anatomy.
Coronal Brow Lift: Traditional, Less Common
The coronal brow lift involves a long incision across the scalp from ear to ear and is considered a highly invasive technique. While less commonly performed today, it may be appropriate for patients with significant brow droop or in revisional cases where other methods are not sufficient. This approach allows for dramatic lifting but requires a longer recovery and may result in a more noticeable scar hidden within the hair.
