If eyelid surgery is deemed the appropriate procedure for you, you may be asked to stop or adjust certain medications and stop smoking. Your surgeon will give you detailed instructions on how to best prepare for a successful eyelid procedure.

Following eyelid surgery, patients can return home for recovery. Mild bruising and swelling may occur following surgery, which can be controlled by keeping the head in an elevated position. Your surgeon will provide pain medication to help alleviate any initial discomfort. Following eyelid surgery, patients may experience light sensitivity, blurring, double vision, and tearing, which is common and will dissipate with time. While most patients can return to their normal activities within a few days, you may be advised to avoid strenuous exercise for at least 3 weeks. Lower eyelid surgery is performed to correct building or sagging skin underneath the eye. During this procedure, your plastic surgeon will create an incision slightly below the lower eyelash or inside the lower eyelid to remove excess skin, tissue, and fat.
Ethnic Eyelid Surgery
Ethnic eyelid surgery, also known as double eyelid surgery, is performed on Asian eyes to create a more defined upper eyelid fold and remove epicanthal folds from the lid. This procedure can make the eyes appear larger.
