What is Liposuction?
Liposuction is a surgical technique used to remove excess deposits of fat and to sculpt and improve the shape of various areas of the body. Our surgeons use rotational liposuction, this method uses infrasonic vibrations to liquefy fat deposits in the body, allowing for easier and more effective fat removal. Compared to traditional liposuction methods, rotational liposuction involves smaller incisions, resulting in minimal scarring and quicker recovery time. Additionally, liposuction is performed using local anesthesia, avoiding the risks associated with general sedation.

What to Expect
At Defyne, a consultation appointment is the first step toward determining if liposuction is right for you and your unique goals. During this appointment, you can discuss your aesthetic concerns and medical history with one of our specialized patient care coordinators. If this procedure is deemed the appropriate solution for your concerns, a personalized liposuction treatment plan will be created. Oftentimes, liposuction is also performed in conjunction with other plastic surgery procedures.
To prepare for liposuction treatment, you may be asked to stop or adjust certain medications and stop smoking. Your surgeon will give you detailed instructions on how to best prepare.
Liposuction is an outpatient procedure performed in an in-office operating room or a certified medical facility. Your surgeon will create a series of tiny incisions where fat needs to be removed. Our surgeons take special care to ensure that incisions are minimal and placed in areas that can be easily concealed. A long and thin tube called a cannula is then inserted through the incisions, which will vibrate to loosen and remove stubborn fat cells. The duration of the procedure may vary depending on the treatment area. Defyne offers Talk & Tuck, a sedation option that allows you to remain awake. For those who would prefer to be asleep, we offer twilight sedation that helps you remain relaxed and comfortable.
Following rotational liposuction, you can return home to rest and recover. There is minimal downtime needed, and most patients are back to their usual routines within two days. While your surgeon can prescribe pain medication, most patients find that over-the-counter pain relievers are more than enough to manage the mild discomfort following this procedure. You will be given a special compression garment that must be worn to support your new body contours and prevent swelling. Your surgeon will provide you with specific instructions regarding healing for optimal results.
