What is Microneedling?
Microneedling is a non-invasive procedure performed to smooth, firm, and tone the skin for an improvement in the appearance of scars, acne, wrinkles, and more. It is also known as collagen induction therapy, as it works by stimulating collagen to improve the look and feel of the skin. This treatment can address many common skin concerns, such as lines, wrinkles, lax skin, uneven skin texture, stretch marks, scars, and more, which are often caused by aging, lifestyle, and environmental factors.
While microneedling is typically performed on the face, it can also be used to address skin concerns on other areas of the body, such as the upper chest, legs, back, stomach, arms, and more.
At Defyne, we are proud to combine microneedling with nanofat, PRP or exosomes to offer you our signature ReGen Needling treatment. These powerful additives are packed with regenerative material in the form of stem cells, growth factors, bioactive proteins and more to deeply revitalize your skin. This powerful combination treatment boosts collagen, refines texture, improves healing and enhances your natural glow for a smoother, more youthful complexion.
Defyne’s Signature ReGen Needling
ReGen Needling is a proprietary Defyne microneedling treatment approach designed to improve the look and feel of your skin. This treatment involves combining microneedling with nanofat, PRP, or exosomes to deeply revitalize the skin. These powerful additives are packed with regenerative material in the form of stem cells, growth factors, bioactive proteins, and more, boosting regenerative outcomes.
Nanofat: Nanofat is derived from the patient’s own adipose tissue. Fat is processed through a specialized filtration process to separate out the stem cells and growth factors. When used along with microneedling, nanofat delivers stem cells and growth factors into the skin, generating collagen production for skin rejuvenation.
PRP: Platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, is derived from the patient’s own blood. It involves collecting the blood and spinning it in a machine called a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma. When applied with microneedling, PRP releases growth factors that stimulate healing, tissue repair, and collagen production for improved skin texture, tone, and hydration.
Exosomes: Exosomes are tiny particles that are secreted by stem cells. They carry proteins, lipids, RNA, and other signaling molecules. When combined with microneedling, exosomes work by delivering signals to the skin cells, stimulating collagen production, cell regeneration, and anti-inflammatory processes for strong anti-aging effects.

What To Expect
As with any aesthetic treatment, the first step toward an improved complexion is a consultation appointment with one of our specialized patient care coordinators. During this meeting, you can discuss your aesthetic concerns, as well as ask any questions you may have regarding the treatment. Your surgeon will learn about your medical history and determine if microneedling is right for you and your personal goals.
To best prepare for your microneedling treatment, patients should avoid tanning or self-tanning products for about four weeks before treatment. Depending on the treatment area, excess hair may need to be shortened the night before. Those with a history of herpes or cold sores may need an antiviral prescription before their treatment. Your surgeon will provide you with instructions on how to prepare for this treatment
Directly before your microneedling treatment, a topical numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area to ensure your comfort. Next, your provider will move the microneedling device across the skin of the treatment area, during which small needles will create micro-wounds in the skin. In turn, these micro-wounds stimulate elastin and collagen production for skin tightening and rejuvenation. The length of your treatment may vary depending on the size and number of treatment areas being addressed.
There is no downtime required following microneedling treatments, making it a great option for those who do not wish to be deterred from their usual routines. Mild swelling and redness may occur, which should resolve by the next day. Ice packs can be used to reduce these effects. Patients should keep their skin moisturized, avoid harsh skincare products, and wear sun protection when outdoors to protect their skin following microneedling. Our team will provide you with specific aftercare instructions to help ensure optimal healing.
Most people require a series of microneedling treatments, typically about 3 to 8 weeks apart. For some, it can take 3 to 6 months for patients to see results, during which the skin will continue to produce collagen.

Microneedling Candidates
Healthy individuals who are seeking to rejuvenate the look and feel of their skin can often benefit from microneedling treatments. Ideal candidates will be seeking a non-surgical solution to issues such as lax skin, sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles, and stretch marks. However, microneedling may not be the right choice for those with certain blood disorders, a history of keloid scarring, certain skin conditions in the treatment area, and those who have taken certain acne medications within the last six months. Overall, the best way to determine if this treatment is right for you and your aesthetic goals is to schedule a consultation appointment at Defyne.
