What are Fillers?
Facial volume loss is a natural part of aging. As facial tissues thin, lines can become more noticeable around the nose and mouth, and cheeks can become more hollow. Dermal fillers are often a great solution for those seeking to replace lost volume, smooth lines, and wrinkles, plump the lips, or restore a more youthful appearance. At Defyne, we offer a large selection of dermal fillers to help you achieve your individual anti-aging and aesthetic goals.
Juvéderm
The Juvéderm family of fillers is formulated with hyaluronic acid (HA), a substance that hydrates and replenishes the body’s natural HA stores, restoring natural volume. The majority of Juvéderm fillers also contain lidocaine, a local anesthetic that is blended to make the injection more comfortable. Each individual product in the Juvéderm line is formulated with specific properties for particular applications. Results can last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years, depending on the formulation.
Restylane
The Restylane line of fillers is also formulated with HA to restore lost facial volume and produce natural-looking results. Each Restylane filler formulation is created to address a specific concern. Depending on the filler chosen, results can last anywhere from 6 months to 18 months.
Revance RHA Fillers
The Reliance line of Resilient Hyaluronic Acid (RHA) fillers was created to correct moderate to severe folds and dynamic wrinkles. RHA Redensity smooths delicate lipstick lines, RHA 2 and RHA 3 smooth wrinkles and folds and enhances lip definition, and RHA 4 treats deeper dynamic lines and wrinkles. Depending on the formulation used, results can last 12 to 15 months.
Sculptra
Unlike other fillers, Sculptra is not formulated with HA; rather, it is created with poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a substance that stimulates collagen production. Because collagen is the protein that provides structure and support to the skin, it is key for smoothing lines and wrinkles and restoring lost volume. Sculptra can last for over 2 years for some patients.
Micro Fat Grafting
Those interested in the volume-restoring powers of fillers but are seeking an all-natural alternative to synthetic formulations can find a solution with micro fat grafting procedures from Defyne. By injecting purified fat harvested from your own body into certain areas of the face, this minimally invasive procedure can restore lost volume and enhance facial features in a natural way.
Your Best Look Yet
Genetics, lifestyle, and environmental factors can all impact how our skin ages. Dermal fillers are an effective choice in combatting obvious signs of aging for a rejuvenated complexion.
Because everyone ages differently, everyone’s treatment will not be the same. At Defyne, we create personalized filler plans for our patients to help make your personal goals a reality.
The Defyne Approach
At Defyne, we highlight the importance of personalized care for each of our patients. Our providers and surgeons take the time to create individualized plans to help you achieve natural-looking, long-lasting results. Combined with cutting-edge and proven techniques and technologies, our patients can enjoy results that make them look and feel their best.
What to Expect
A consultation appointment is your first step toward receiving filler. During this meeting, you will discuss your personal goals with one of our specialized patient care coordinators, as well as inform them regarding your medical history. This is also the perfect time to ask any questions you may have.
For the best results, your provider may ask you to stop taking certain prescriptions a few days before treatment. Patients should also avoid chemical peels, suntanning, and certain facials in the days leading up to their filler treatment.
A topical anesthetic will be applied to the treatment area immediately before your filler treatment to ensure your comfort. Next, the chosen filler will be artfully injected into the chosen treatment area for the desired results. The length of your filler appointment may vary depending on the number and size of areas being treated.
Patients who are especially anxious regarding having filler treatment can benefit from PRO-NOX, which can help to lessen discomfort and anxiety during treatment.
Following dermal filler treatment, there is no downtime needed, making it a great “lunchtime” treatment. Minor swelling and bruising may occur, which will fade within the first couple of days. For best results, patients should avoid alcohol consumption, strenuous exercise, and use of hot tubs and saunas for 24-48 hours after their filler treatment.
Depending on the individual, the product used, and the area treated, results can typically be noticed directly after treatment and last anywhere from 6 months to over 2 years. To maintain results, your provider will simply repeat the treatment to ensure optimal results.

What is the difference between dermal fillers and Botox?
There are fundamental differences in how fillers and neuromodulators like Botox work. Botox uses a neuromuscular protein that relaxes facial muscles to loosen lines, folds, and wrinkles. Dermal fillers are natural soft tissue substances that are injected to cushion out folds and other imperfections in facial skin. The right procedure choice should be influenced by your problem areas and desired cosmetic outcome. Our team will work with you to create a personalized treatment plan.
-
What are the risks of facial fillers?
Injectable fillers are one of the safest facial rejuvenation treatments available today. The substances used to create dermal fillers are skin-friendly and do not cause infections or allergies. Patients can, however, minimize this risk by working with a seasoned plastic surgeon or injection specialist who has a keen eye for detail and has completed numerous other injection procedures before.
-
Can dermal fillers be reversed?
Some dermal fillers created with hyaluronic acid (such as Juvéderm, Restylane, and Revance) can be dissolved with an enzyme if the patient is not happy with the outcome. Other types of fillers, such as Sculptra, cannot be reversed.
