What is Derma-Coring?
Derma-Coring is a treatment technique that involves the removal of small cores of tissue to stimulate collagen and elastin production. In turn, this leads to tighter, smoother, more even skin texture.
There are two main types of Derma-Coring, including Micro-Coring and Laser-Coring.
Micro-Coring: Uses hollow needles to mechanically remove skin without any surrounding thermal damage. This innovative option improves skin laxity of the face, neck, jawline, and chin without traditional surgery, resulting in minimal downtime.
Laser-Coring: Uses laser technology to create mico-cores in the skin, stimulating collagen and elastin production. This option improves fine lines and wrinkles, as well as improves skin texture and tone.
Derma-Coring is used on its own or with a combination of nanofat to improve healing and enhance skin quality. At Defyne, we offer the ReGen Dermacore treatment, which utilizes Micro-Coring or Laser-Coring with nanofat, PRP, or exosomes to embrace the body’s natural rejuvenation process.
It is also used in combination with other modalities and techniques in our signature procedures. Individuals who are seeking visible, natural-looking results without the discomfort or extended recovery time associated with invasive procedures may benefit from Micro-Coring.

Defyne’s Signature ReGen Dermacore
ReGen Dermacore is a signature Defyne dermacoring treatment designed to stimulate tissue’s natural healing properties, rejuvenating the look and feel of your skin. This treatment involves a combination of micro coring or laser coring with either exosomes, PRP, or nanofat to comprehensively rejuvenate the skin. When Dermacoring is combined with regenerative treatments like PRP, exosomes, or nanofat, the aim is further to enhance skin healing, regeneration, and scar reduction.
Nanofat: Nanofat is derived from the patient’s own adipose tissue. Fat is processed through a specialized filtration process to separate out the stem cells and growth factors. After Dermacoring, Nanofat delivers stem cells and growth factors that enhance skin regeneration by promoting collagen production and tissue healing. Nanofat works at a deeper level by improving skin structure, leading to more long-lasting rejuvenation.
PRP: Platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, is derived from the patient’s own blood. It involves collecting the blood and spinning it in a machine called a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma. PRP releases growth factors that accelerate wound healing, reduce inflammation, and stimulate collagen production. After Dermacoring, PRP enhances the natural healing process of the skin, allowing the treated area to regenerate more effectively.
Exosomes: Exosomes are small particles that are produced by stem cells. They carry proteins, lipids, RNA, and other signaling molecules. Exosomes are known for their ability to communicate with cells and deliver effective regenerative signals. When combined with Dermacoring, they enhance cell-to-cell communication, promote tissue regeneration, and reduce inflammation. Exosomes drive a strong regenerative response, making them highly effective in skin remodeling.
The Defyne Approach
At Defyne, personalized treatment plans are created for each of our patients. Our surgeons pride themselves on creating uniquely tailored treatment plans for each individual, incorporating the most advanced techniques and technologies. We aim to provide you with natural-looking results so you can feel confident in your skin.
What To Expect
Your first step toward achieving smoother, tighter skin will be a consultation appointment with one of our board-certified plastic surgeons. The goal of this appointment is to understand your unique aesthetic goals. Your board-certified plastic surgeon will discuss your concerns and learn more about your medical history to determine your candidacy.
If your surgeon determines that Derma-Coring is a safe treatment for you, you will be asked to avoid blood thinning medications and supplements at least two weeks before treatment. We also recommend avoiding exposure to the sun or tanning beds, which can result in sunburn. Your surgeon will give you detailed instructions on how to best prepare for a successful procedure.
Prior to treatment, a numbing cream and a local anesthetic will be injected into the treatment area to numb the area and ensure your comfort. Your provider will then use the coring device to create a grid pattern of microcores in the skin using small, hollow needles. These skin punctures will trigger collagen and elastin production, enhancing the rejuvenation process.
The entire procedure is typically completed in less than 30 minutes. Because there is no heat involved in this procedure, there is no risk of thermal injury or scarring.
Following Derma-Coring, average recovery is limited. Common side effects include swelling, redness, discomfort, and tenderness, which should resolve within one week. While visible improvements may appear within three weeks, continued enhancement will occur over the following months as collagen is continually produced.
Our clinical team will provide you with specific and detailed aftercare instructions to ensure natural-looking outcomes. Results can last from several months to years, depending on your skin health, age, and maintenance.
